LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA – The College of Saint Rose outscored host Lincoln University 41-18 throughout the final 17 minutes of the first half en route to an 80-63 victory in the championship game of the James A. Richardson Tip-Off Tournament today.

After falling behind 9-2 in the early going, the Golden Knights (2-0) held the Lady Lions (1-1) to a pair of field goals in the final 13 minutes of the opening period to take a 43-27 halftime lead. Saint Rose led by double-digits the rest of the way. The Golden Knights helped their cause by forcing 15 Lincoln turnovers that led to 14 points in the opening stanza.

Senior center and All-Tournament pick Lauren Revesz tied her career-high with 27 points in only 27 minutes, while senior guard and Tournament MVP Dana Brown added 21 points for Saint Rose, which had nine players figure in the scoring column.

Sophomore guard DeJuana Mosley led Lincoln with 22 points and 19 rebounds; while senior forward Tanina Cook and freshman guard Sharay DuBose tossed in 15 points each.

After overcoming its slow start, Revesz knocked down a 3-pointer that afforded the game its only tie, 15-15, with 14:01 to go. Brown drained a jumper two minutes later to put Saint Rose ahead for good, 19-18. Senior forward Ashley Anderson then gave the Golden Knights a double-digit advantage, 30-20, by converting a layup with 5:45 remaining. Two minutes after that, sophomore forward Amy Voelkel buried a pair of free throws and the margin was 16, 45-21, with Saint Rose in control.

The Golden Knights open the Northeast-10 Conference portion of their schedule Wednesday at Le Moyne College in Syracuse. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 pm. Time Warner in Syracuse is broadcasting both that game and the 7:30 pm men’s contest that comprises the second half of the league doubleheader. Time Warner Channel 3 will pick up the feed in the Albany market. Meanwhile, Lincoln University has a 5:30 pm date at Saint Paul’s College in Lawrenceville, VA on Tuesday.
