SYRACUSE – The College of Saint Rose swept a rare dual meet today as the men’s team defeated Le Moyne 31-38, while the women’s squad chalked up a 25-33 victory against the host Dolphins.
Sophomore
Macky Lloyd led a contingent of four Saint Rose runners that comprised the top-five finishers in the men’s race. Lloyd ran a winning 8k time of 28:31; while junior
Tyler Gantz, sophomore
Brandon Madigan, and freshman
Mike Corrado were third, fourth and fifth respectively. Gantz crossed the line in 29:11, while Madigan and Corrado were together in 29:14 and 29:15.
Furthermore, sophomore
Dan Gargaro and freshman
Brandon Krupunich ran respective times of 30:28 and 31:10 to wind up eighth and ninth.
Le Moyne took the top two spots in the women’s race, but the following six runners all wore Saint Rose jerseys with the top five coming across within one minute of each other.
Senior
Melissa Bredice spearheaded the Saint Rose effort by completing the 5k trek in a third place time of 20:32.
Freshman
Emma Cohen also broke the 21-minute barrier with a 20:59 clocking, while two more freshmen in
Grace Giampaglia and
Liz Dalia were fifth and sixth with respective times of 21:16 and 21:26. Junior
Meaghan Lucie was right behind Dalia with a 21:28 clocking. Senior
Katie Rossettini followed with a time of 21:48.
Looking ahead, both teams have the next two weeks to prepare for the Northeast-10 Conference Championships that are set for Saturday, October 24 at Saint Michael’s College in Colchester, VT.
