ALBANY – Two days after being recognized as an Academic All-American, junior back
Kelly Guerin has been similarly honored for her outstanding season on the soccer field. Guerin represents The College of Saint Rose on the 2009 Daktronics All-America Team. She is among a mere 39 players from some 300 NCAA Division II institutions to be chosen.
Guerin, who plays outside and is among the club’s primary marking backs, is a key component for a Saint Rose defensive unit that leads the Northeast-10 Conference and is second in the nation with a 0.25 goals-against-average. Saint Rose has allowed a mere six goals all season, none in the first half, and only five throughout the flow of play. A second-team selection, Guerin has also scored a pair of goals this year.
The Golden Knights (24-0-0) are ranked #2 in the final regular-season
NSCAA/Adidas Division Poll, and are one game away from a national championship appearance. Saint Rose is scheduled to take on Grand Valley State, MI (20-0-4) in an NCAA Tournament semifinal encounter tomorrow at Pepin Stadium on the University of Tampa campus. Kickoff is set for 5:00 pm.
This is the fourth year Daktronics has sponsored the NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer All-America and All-Region Teams.
