SAINT ROSE GOES 3-0 ON BUSY DAY TO RUN WIN STREAK TO SIX GAMES
Kerry Monahan
Senior left fielder Kerry Monahan went 5-for-11 with three RBI to help lead the Golden Knights to three victories today.
MANCHESTER, NH – The College of Saint Rose drove more than 200 miles and played three Northeast-10 Conference games in two different two states within a seven-hour span, but made it all worthwhile by going 3-0 today. Saint Rose has now won six straight and eight of its last nine.

The Golden Knights opened up with a 4-0 victory at Assumption College in Worcester, MA this morning; and then continued their trek to Manchester, NH where they swept a twin-bill from host Saint Anselm. Saint Rose (15-21/11-15 NE-10) won the opener 4-3 by scoring three times in the seventh, and took the finale 9-4. The Assumption game marked a make-up from the second half of Wednesday’s scheduled doubleheader that was rained out.

Senior right-hander Nicole Welch had nothing short of a stellar trip. Welch went 3-0 via a complete game effort at Assumption and back-to-back relief appearances at Saint Anselm. She allowed just seven hits and fanned 10, while issuing only one walk throughout 13.0 collective innings of work.

Welch got plenty of offensive support from senior left fielder Kerry Monahan and senior shortstop Ashley Anderson. Monahan went 5-for-10 with three RBI, while Anderson finished 5-for-11 with a pair of RBI for the Golden Knights.

Saint Rose scored three runs in the seventh to grab the victory at Assumption. Junior catcher Amanda Morano and Monahan both had run scoring singles in the final frame, which coupled with an Assumption (18-24/12-14 NE-10) error proved to be the difference.

At Saint Anselm (18-23-1/10-15-1 NE-10), the Golden Knights rallied from a 3-1 deficit in the opener by pushing across three runs in the fifth. Anderson had a run scoring base hit and Morano brought across another tally with a groundout to second base. A Saint Anselm miscue accounted for the third run.

Saint Rose then broke open a 4-4 ballgame by pushing across four runs in what else but the fifth and another in the sixth inning of the finale. Freshman second baseman Lindsey David had a two RBI single, which coupled with a pair of Saint Anselm errors spurred the Golden Knights outbreak in the fifth.

Both Saint Rose and Saint Anselm have league games on tap for tomorrow. The Golden Knights will remain in Manchester to close out their regular-season slate with a noon twin-bill at Southern New Hampshire. Meanwhile, Saint Anselm will host Le Moyne for a noon doubleheader. As for Assumption, the Greyhounds are scheduled to host Stonehill for a pair of games beginning at 1:00 pm.
