LOWELL, MA – The College of Saint Rose men’s team recorded four school records to place fourth among nine competing teams and the women’s squad set three school standards to wind up fifth among eight institutions at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships that took place on the campus of UMass Lowell today. The Golden Knights also had a first place performance on each side of the meet.
Senior
Kevin Jackson broke the tape in 15.23 in the 110 meter hurdles, while sophomore
Meaghan Lucie ran a winning time of 41:49.82 in the 10,000 meter run to account for the two Saint Rose victories.
Also, freshman
Ryan Saunders continued his outstanding outdoor season by breaking two school records. He ran a preliminary time of 11.05 in the 100m dash and then finished fourth with a finals clocking of 11.13. He then went a school record 55.26 to take second in the 400m hurdles, and was furthermore part of both the 4x400 and 4x100 relay squads that wound up third and fourth with respective times of 3:23.77 and 43.99.
Jackson was also a member of the two aforementioned relay units. He added a fifth place performance with a 22.61 clocking in the 200m dash. Meanwhile, junior
Jeremy Chapline broke his own record with a hammer throw of 44.21 meters to finish fourth and senior
Brad Lewis ran a 9:37.15 to take fourth in the 3000m steeplechase.
For the women, sophomore
Keysla Sano along with junior
Ann Palmer and freshman
Ashley Jackman bettered their previous school records. Palmer broke her own mark with a second place leap of 5.29 meters in the long jump and Sano broke her own standard with a fifth place performance of 16.77 in the 100m hurdles. Jackman then snapped her record of 12:22.32, set just a week ago, by nearly 24 seconds with a time of 11:58.96 in the 3000m steeplechase.
Palmer and Jackman were also members of the third place 4x400 relay quartet, along with sophomore
Sarah Hilton and junior
Katie Rossettini, that ran a 4:45.39. The 4x800 team of freshman
Lindsey Bonk, senior
Joanne Smith, junior
Melissa Bredice and Lucie also took third. They finished in a collective 10:29.62
