MANCHESTER, NH – The College of Saint Rose edged Bentley University by a mere four points collectively on the strength of a pair of individual victories to sweep the 28th annual Shacklette Invitational that was run on the campus of Saint Anselm College today.
Sophomore
Macky Lloyd covered the men’s 8k course in a winning time of 26:59, while senior
Melissa Bredice ran the women’s 5k circuit in a top time of 20:02 to highlight the day for the Golden Knights.
The Saint Rose women edged the Falcons 53-54. Merrimack was third with 63 points and Saint Anselm was fourth with 76 points. For the men, the Golden Knights outscored Bentley 36-39 with Merrimack and Saint Anselm finishing third and fourth with 65 and 80 points respectively.
Four of the top-eight runners wore Saint Rose uniforms in the men’s race. Sophomore
Justin Thompson ran a 27:25 to place third, while sophomore
Brandon Madigan and junior
Tyler Gantz were sixth and eighth with respective times of 28:08 and 28:15.
The Golden Knights furthermore had seven runners finish between 18th and 40th place. Freshmen
Mike Corrado and
Brandon Krupunich paced that group by posting respective times of 28:49 and 29:16 to take 18th and 21st place.
In the women’s race, Saint Rose produced six runners in the top-17 including Bredice. Freshman
Katie DiBello was ninth overall with a 20:51 clocking, while senior
Katie Rossettini and junior
Meaghan Lucie were 13th and 14th with 21:08 and 21:11 performances. They were followed by sophomore
Alison Vogelien who wound up 16th behind a 21:20 clocking and freshman Liz Dalia who came across on her heels in 21:21 to finish 17th.
Up ahead, Saint Rose is scheduled to take part in the NYIT Running of the Bears Meet on Long Island next Saturday.
