EAST STROUDSBURG, PA – The College of Saint Rose women’s volleyball team suffered a pair of setbacks this afternoon at the East Stroudsburg Tournament, thus ending its school record eight-match win streak to start the 2009 campaign. The Golden Knights (8-2) were handed a 3-1 (25-22, 20-25, 17-25, 20-25) loss by the host Warriors, before coming up short in an identical 3-1 (18-25, 19-25, 25-18, 23-25) decision versus Adelphi University.
In the day’s first match, Saint Rose jumped out to a 1-0 lead after taking the first set 25-22. However, East Stroudsburg bounced back with 25-20, 25-17 and 25-20 victories to give the Golden Knights their first blemish of the year.
Three players wound up with at least seven kills apiece for Saint Rose. Senior right side hitter
Jaclyn Griffin led the way with eight kills, while sophomore middle hitter
Chelsea Tyler and sophomore outside hitter
Marilyn Glamack added seven kills each.

Mary German continued her dependable play in the back row by contributing 30 digs.
In the final match of the tournament, the Golden Knights cut their deficit to 2-1 following a 25-18 triumph in the third set. In the fourth set, the Panthers broke a 23-23 tie by scoring the final two points of the set to come away with a 25-23 victory to seal the match.

Sarah Kahrs and Glamack paced the Saint Rose offense with 12 and 11 kills respectively. Glamack also added 26 digs. Sophomore setter
Theresa Staulo passed out 31 assists as well.
The Golden Knights, who have now played 10 matches throughout the first 12 days of September, will have a week off to prepare for a non-conference meeting versus C.W. Post next Saturday. The match is scheduled to get underway at 1:00 pm at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium.
