BETHPAGE, NY – Sophomore Macky Lloyd ran the second fastest 8k time in school history to lead The College of Saint Rose men’s squad to its third consecutive team victory today. Lloyd crossed the line third overall among 100 entries with a 25:45.90 clocking at the NYIT Running of the Bears Invitational that was held at Bethpage State Park on Long Island. His 8k performance is second only to Mark Delf’s 25:39 clocking at the University at Albany in 1993.

Meanwhile, the Saint Rose women’s contingent wound up second overall with junior Meaghan Lucie spearheading the effort. Lucie covered the 5k trek in 20:02.10 to take eighth place while leading seven Golden Knights who finished among the top-18 in a field featuring 87 competitors.

The Golden Knights showed their depth in the men’s race as well with five of the top-15 place holders. Sophomores Justin Thompson and Brandon Madigan, junior Tyler Gantz and freshman Mike Corrado crossed the line seventh, 11th, 13th and 15th respectively. Thompson ran a 26:22.60, Madigan came across in 27:04.00, Gantz hit the line in 27:08.60 and Corrado finished with a time of 27:17.90.

As for the women, freshman Katie DiBello and senior Katie Rossettini were 10th and 11th with respective times of 20:16.30 and 20:24.70. They were followed by a quartet of teammates who took four of the five slots between 14th and 18th place. Freshman Liz Dalia ran a 14th place time of 20:33.90 with sophomore Alison Vogelien on her heels in 20:34.90. Finally, freshmen Emma Cohen and Grace Giampaglia were 16th and 18th with respective times of 20:41.00 and 20:57.10.

Saint Rose has next weekend off. The Golden Knights will then take part in the prestigious Paul Short Invitational that is being hosted by Lehigh University on Friday, October 2.
