ALBANY –
Caitlin Brauer of The College of Saint Rose has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Women’s Freshman of the Week in recognition of her outstanding performance for the period ending Sunday, February 21. This marks the third time this season that Brauer has been so honored.
Brauer set five school records and was part of three school record setting relay teams on the way to being named Female Rookie of the Meet at the Metropolitan Conference Championships this past weekend. She twice bettered her own school standard in the 200-yard breaststroke. Brauer went a 2:25.33 in a preliminary heat Sunday morning, and then swam a second place time of 2:22.96 in the finals session. Also, her 100 split of 1:07.86 lowered her school standard in that event as well.
On Saturday, Brauer broke her own school record in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:31.57 and thus for the second consecutive day reached an automatic qualifying standard for next month’s NCAA Championships. She previously won the 200 individual medley in a school record 2:07.12, thus qualifying for the NCAA meet in that event as well.
