NEW HAVEN – The College of Saint Rose women’s swimming and diving team set four more school records and had two student-athletes obtain NCAA provisional qualifying standards throughout the second day of competition Saturday at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships that are being hosted by Southern Connecticut State this weekend.
In the men’s portion, sophomore
Vadim Yafayev again stood out by setting a meet record while putting together his second NCAA Championship automatic qualifying performance in as many days. Yafayev hit the wall in 4:02.04 in the 400-yard individual medley to add to yesterday’s record setting swim of 2:08.58 in the 200 IM.
The Saint Rose women’s contingent currently stands second among eight schools with 488.5 points, 173 points behind the host Owls. The men’s squad is third among seven competing institutions with 355.5 points, 147.5 behind second place Southern Connecticut State. Bentley owns a comfortable lead with 585.5 points.

Caitlin Brauer and junior
Amy Lamparelli surpassing the previous school record by swimming provisional times of 4:33.33 and 4:37.39 to take second and third place respectively. Sophomore
Caitlin Peterson also had a school record performance. She eclipsed Brauer’s previous mark with a second place clocking of 1:57.19 in the 200 freestyle.
The remaining two record setting times came from the 200 medley relay and the 800 free relay teams. The former went 1:51.35 with sophomore

Naomi Woodcock, Lamparelli, and junior
Alicia Robinson. Meanwhile, the 800 freestyle quartet shattered the previous school mark by more than 10 seconds as Brauer, Peterson, Woodcock, and then Lamparelli went 7:57.25.
The third and final day of competition is set to get underway with preliminary heats at 10:00 am tomorrow. The finals session is scheduled to start at 6:00 pm.
