CANTON, OH – Sophomore Vadim Yafayev earned his second career honorable mention All-America award in the 400-yard individual medley with a ninth place time of 4:00.23 at the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships this evening. The meet is being held at the C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton, OH.

Yafayev, who was 13th in last year’s championship meet at the University of Houston, advanced to tonight’s final by swimming the 12th swiftest qualifying time with a 4:02.03 clocking in a preliminary heat this morning.

Furthermore, freshman Caitlin Brauer recorded an 18th place preliminary time of 4:33.23 in the women’s 400 IM earlier in the day. Brauer is the first female student-athlete to represent Saint Rose at the NCAA Championships.

Up ahead, Yafayev is scheduled to swim the 100 backstroke tomorrow while Brauer is on track for the 200 breaststroke on Saturday.
