YAFAYEV CONCLUDES OUTSTANDING MEET AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS WITH RECORD SETTING SWIM
Sophomore Vadim Yafayev concluded an outstanding meet at the NCAA Championships with a record setting performance today.

CANTON, OH – Sophomore
Vadim Yafayev concluded an outstanding meet at the
NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships by breaking his own school record in a preliminary heat of the 100-yard backstroke this morning. Yafayev swam a 26th place time of 51.76 at the C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton. In the process, he lowered his previous mark of 52.03 that he set last month at the Metropolitan Conference Championships.
Last night, Yafayev recorded an honorable mention All-America performance in the 400 individual medley with a ninth place time of 4:00.23. Yafayev previously missed the finals cut by a mere 0.25 seconds with an 18th place clocking of 1:53.18 in Wednesday’s 200 IM.

Caitlin Brauer is scheduled to wrap up her participation with the women’s 200 breaststroke tomorrow. Brauer is the first female student-athlete to represent Saint Rose at the NCAA Championships.
