BOCA RATON, FL – The College of Saint Rose suffered a 16-10 defeat to Concordia this afternoon on the heels of last night’s 5-2 triumph against Dominican in what marked the club’s midway point of its annual spring break Florida swing.

Concordia scored six runs in the second inning although the Golden Knights (2-9) responded with three runs to cut their deficit in half in the bottom of the frame. The Clippers (3-2) then tacked on three more in the fourth, another in the fifth and three each in both the eighth and ninth innings.

Senior catcher Derek Marshall had a bases clearing triple to highlight a four-run Saint Rose eighth. Marshall finished 2-for-4 and also scored a pair of runs on the day. Sophomore infielder Nick Alexandrovich went 2-for-5 with a triple and two RBI, while sophomore outfielder Jesse Burba wound up 2-for-2 with a run scored.

In yesterday’s 5-2 victory over Dominican, junior outfielder Garret Keenan went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI and senior catcher John Cole finished 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored to lead the Saint Rose attack. Senior right-hander Nate Ward had a solid outing on the mound. Ward did not allow an earned run throughout 6.2 innings of work.

Up next, the Golden Knights have a 10:30 am doubleheader versus Dominican tomorrow in Palm Beach. The Clippers are scheduled to meet Wilmington at 11:00 am Friday in Palm Beach as well.
