ALBANY – Shortstop
Ashley Anderson represents The College of Saint Rose on the 2010
ESPN The Magazine District I Academic All-America® Softball Team that is administered by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The graduate student earned second-team accolades and thus is one of only 38 student-athletes from NCAA Division II and III institutions throughout New England, New York State and Southeastern Canada, who have been recognized for excellence in both academics and athletics.
Anderson owns a 3.63 overall grade-point-average (4.00 scale) and is currently studying Childhood Education and Special Childhood Education at the College.
Anderson, who also played basketball for the Golden Knights throughout her undergraduate career (2005-06 – 2008-09), batted a team-leading .344 (45-for-131) with 27 RBI, 18 runs scored and seven home runs this spring. She put forth one of the most dominating performances in school annals when she hit two grand slams and added a solo home run during an 11-8 victory at Stonehill College on May 1. She also strung together a team-best 11 game hit streak earlier in the year.
Previously, Anderson was a two-year captain for the women’s basketball team and was named to the Northeast-10 Conference All-Academic Team as a junior (2007-08). She was also selected to the NE-10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll as a senior (2008-09) and garnered All-Rookie honors following her freshman season (2005-06).
