ALBANY - The College of Saint Rose men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs have earned the distinction of Scholar All-American Teams by the Collegiate Swim Coaches Association of America. The Saint Rose men’s squad was listed along with a mere 23 other NCAA Division II institutions, while the women’s team was one of only 36 NCAA II schools recognized for the spring 2010 semester.
Furthermore, rising sophomore
Caitlin Brauer was honored as an individual Scholar All-American. Brauer became the first female swimmer to represent Saint Rose at the NCAA Championships this past season. She already owns seven school records and is part of four relay record holding teams.
From a team standpoint, the Golden Knights women’s squad had its best showing ever with a second place finish at the 2009-10 Northeast-10 Conference Championships. The men wound up third at that meet.
There are seventy-two colleges that sponsor women’s swimming and diving, while 56 sponsor a men’s program at the NCAA II level. Teams must have a collective GPA above 3.00 to be honored by the CSCAA.
