CANTARA NAMED ASSISTANT ATHLETIC TRAINER

ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose announced today that Lisa Cantara has been named an Assistant Athletic Trainer.
Cantara brings 15 years of collegiate experience, 13 at the NCAA Division 1 level, to the position. She is a certified Athletic Trainer by both the NATABOC and New York State, is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, is an Approved Clinical Instructor, and is certified in CPR/First Aid/AED by the American Red Cross.
Cantara spent 13 years at Stony Brook University on Long Island where she initially began as an Assistant Athletic Trainer, before being promoted to Associate Athletic Trainer and subsequently to Head Athletic Trainer. More recently, she worked as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Siena College and was a contracted staff member at Thomas Nicolla Consulting Services in Latham, NY throughout the past year. In her latter role; she provided athletic training services to the athletic programs at Hudson Valley Community College and Colonie High School.
Cantara furthermore traveled to Europe during the summers of 2004, 2005 and 2007 while serving as the head athletic trainer with a New Jersey based Select U-17 girls’ soccer team. She has also worked at the draft camps for both the Women’s National Basketball Association and Major League Lacrosse. She is an active member of the New York State Athletic Trainers’ Association and was a reviewer for an Emergency Trauma Management textbook designed for athletic training majors. The book is scheduled to be published this October.
Cantara earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education/athletic training from Central Connecticut State University and completed her master’s degree in health care administration at the University of New Haven.
