SOUTH EASTON, MA – The College of Saint Rose senior midfielder
Christina Cuffari has been named the 2011 Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year as a total of eight Golden Knights' players were named to the All-Conference teams today. The eight selections are the most by any other institution in the 16-team league.
Cuffari, who is the second player in program history to earn the league's top honor, was also a first-team selection along with sophomore forward
Carmelina Puopolo and sophomore midfielder
Sydney Bond. Senior midfielder
Brittany Godin, senior forward Gianna D'Errico and freshman forward
Brittany Barry garnered second-team honors, while senior back Nicola D'Errico and junior back
Meagan McKinney were third-team picks.
Additionally, Barry was named to the league's All-Rookie squad.
Cuffari is making her second straight appearance on the All-Conference team. She has produced 23 points with six goals and 11 assists this fall. Puopolo, Barry, Bond and Godin help comprise the nation's (Division II) most potent offense (3.74 gpg). The quartet, along with Cuffari, is among the top-five point producers in the NE-10 at this juncture. Saint Rose has already scored 71 goals this season, which represents the second-highest single-season total in program history behind only last year's sum of 82 markers.
Puopolo leads the way with 35 points on the strength of 13 goals and nine assists. She is making her second appearance on the All-Conference squad after garnering third-team honors a year ago. Puopolo's 13 strikes are just six shy of the single-season school mark. She has already found the back of the net 23 times throughout her two years in a Golden Knights uniform.
Barry is second in the league with 26 points on 12 goals and two helpers. She is second in the NE-10 behind only Puopolo in goals. Bond is on her heels with 24 points on 10 goals and four assists. Bond is making her second consecutive appearance on the All-Conference squad following a third-team selection last year. Godin, who was named an NSCAA/Adidas third-team All-American two years ago, has also chipped in with 23 points behind a career-best 10 goals and three assists.
Gianna has earned her third All-Conference nod. She has contributed 15 points with four goals and seven assists in 2011. Her 70 career points on 26 goals and 18 assists are 11th on the all-time list.
Her twin sister, Nicola, and McKinney have helped solidify a defense that leads the league with a 0.52 goals-against-average. Saint Rose has manufactured more than 100 corner kicks than it has surrendered behind a 156-45 differential. The Golden Knights are also in the midst of a 360-minute scoreless streak in NE-10 Tournament play. For her career, Nicola has chalked up 18 goals and 11 assists for 47 points. Meanwhile, McKinney has made 63 starts to pilot the defensive unit.

The Golden Knights will take their next step towards a fifth straight NE-10 Tournament title when they host fifth-seed Stonehill (11-6-2) at 4:00 pm Friday.
