CUFFARI GARNERS TWO PRESTIGIOUS AWARDS FROM NE-10

Christina Cuffari was recognized Tuesday evening with two prestigious honors at the NE-10 annual awards banquet.
PORTSMOUTH, NH – Former women's soccer standout Christina Cuffari from The College of Saint Rose was honored Tuesday evening with two of the most prestigious awards the Northeast-10 Conference bestows upon student-athletes.

Cuffari was named both the NE-10 Woman of the Year and Outstanding Female Scholar-Athlete during the league's annual awards banquet. The former is chosen by the conference's Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) Council. Cuffari's name will now be forwarded to the NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics, which manages the nomination process and selection for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award. The award honors graduating student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in the areas of academic achievement, athletics excellence, service and leadership.

Meanwhile, the Outstanding Female Scholar-Athlete Award was chosen by a committee comprised of faculty members and athletic administrators within the league.

“It is a great honor to have Christina Cuffari selected as Northeast-10 Conference Woman of the Year. Christina is an outstanding student-athlete representative for Saint Rose and the Northeast-10. She exemplifies excellence in the classroom and on the playing field that so many of our student-athletes achieve each year,” said Saint Rose Athletics Director Cathy Haker.

Cuffari had nothing short of an historic career for the National Champion Golden Knights. The 2011 NE-10 Player of the Year and the conference's Scholar-Athlete Sports Excellence award winner for women's soccer, Cuffari graduated two weeks ago with a 3.76 grade-point-average (4.00 scale) as a business administration major.

Cuffari was furthermore named the 2011 Daktronics East Region Player of the Year, was a two-time Daktronics and NSCAA All-American, and was twice named an NSCAA Scholar All-American and a Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-American®.

Cuffari led the NE-10 with 13 assists and finished fourth in the conference with 29 points this past autumn. She closed out her career with a school record 37 helpers, wound up sixth all-time with 95 points and tied for ninth with 29 goals. She was furthermore part of four NE-10 Championship squads and four different teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament National Semifinals and posted a collective 91-7-4 (.918) record. Saint Rose went 24-1-1 on the way to the first national team title in school annals last fall.

Cuffari was also active in a number of community engagement projects including Relay for Life and the Abby Wambach local soccer clinic.
