JOHANSON AND SMITH LEAD GOLDEN KNIGHTS TO 11-8 WIN OVER CHESTNUT HILL

ALBANY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose won its third straight home contest with a 11-8 triumph over Chestnut Hill this afternoon on Sullivan Field.

Freshman attack Alex Johanson topped the Golden Knights offense with four goals. Saint Rose also received three goals from graduate attack Cam Smith, who has now netted a hat trick in three games in a row.

Noah Gibson, Eoghan Sweeney, and Aiden Blouin each provided solo scores as well for the Golden Knights. Smith, Blouin, and Luke Pemrick tallied one assist apiece as well.

Chestnut Hill claimed five of the first seven goals of the game to put Saint Rose in a multi-goal deficit early. The Golden Knights faced a 5-2 margin with 11 minutes left in the first half when an own goal from the Griffins started a run of five consecutive scores by Saint Rose to give the Golden Knights a 7-5 lead at the end of third quarter.

Johanson netted two of his four goals in the final 15 minutes to help Saint Rose lock down the win. Senior goalkeeper Ryan Gainor turned away seven shots to earn the win in net for the Golden Knights.

The Golden Knights next travel to Rochester to face Roberts Wesleyan on Tuesday at 4:00 pm
