GENDRON REACHES BASE FOUR TIMES TO HELP SAINT ROSE BEAT FRANCIS MARION 8-6

FLORENCE, SC- The College of Saint Rose baseball team earned an 8-6 triumph tonight at Francis Marion.

Four different Golden knights registered two or more hits, with graduate designated hitter Louis Gendron leading the way with a 3-for-3 performance at the plate. Gendron also drew a walk to reach base in all four of his at-bats on the night.

Junior outfield James Ward, junior center fielder Mike Benedetto, and freshman second baseman Ethan Farina matched Gendron with multi-hit efforts. Sophomore shortstop Kenyon Motley and junior left fielder Josh Foglia provided two RBI apiece as well.

The Golden Knights got on the board in the top of second inning, as Motley and Foglia each provided run-scoring at-bats to give Saint Rose a 2-0 lead. After Francis Marion got one back in the bottom of the frame, Motley and freshman catcher AJ Fasolino each walked with the bases-loaded in the third to bring the lead back to 4-1.

Francis Marion chipped away with solo runs in the second, third, and fourth innings, however Folglia and Gendron helped the Golden Knights put things out of reach with a three-run top of the fifth. Foglia plated Motley and Fasolino with a single through the ride side followed by a Genron double that scored Foglia.

The two squads close out their two-game series with another 6:00 pm matchup tomorrow night.
