Meet Format: The Golden Knights XC Joust will be run in accordance with the NCAA Men’s & Women’s Cross-Country/Track & Field rules book with one notable exception. Rather than a traditional starting line, there will be two separate starting lines from which the field will be divided equidistant from the first turn in the course. This makes for an exciting start to a fun event.
Course Description: The course will be the same as the past three years. It will still incorporate a dual-starting line format and cover a very flat, fast course on open fields. There are three-four asphalt crossings with minor bike trail crossings. Otherwise the course is all grass. ¼” spikes are recommended. Men’s course covers the loop twice with some minor changes the second time around.
Course Markings: The course will be marked with white arrows. Please stay off bike trails when the course runs adjacent to them. Caution: Pedestrians might be using the bike trails since it is a public park. There will be course marshals to alert pedestrians. Mile markers will be marked with white paint. Do not follow the bike trail mile marker posts. There will be two bicyclists on hand to lead/tail the races.
Entry Fee: The entry fee is $100.00 for each team (a total of $200 for both Men & Women). Teams with less than five runners and any unattached runners will be charged $25 each and must pre-register. This fee is due on the day of competition.
Entry Deadline: Interested teams should return the attached
Intent to Participate form ASAP. Committed Coaches should then submit roster with the athlete’s full name and school year to the meet directors no later than 6pm on Friday, August 28th. We prefer this is done electronically, but you may use a hard copy entry form that will be emailed to coaches. There is no limit on the number of entries per-institution. Please enter all possibilities for the race. You will not be penalized for entering runners that do not run.
Hotel/Restaurant Information: The Crossings is within 5 minutes of the Albany International Airport and Wolf Road. Wolf Road has a wide variety of restaurant choices from fine dining to fast food.

Medical Information: There will be at least one certified trainer on site from the College. Paramedics will be on call.
Officials: The meet directors will determine the number of officials required to successfully conduct the meet. There will also be a number of Saint Rose athletes on the course to direct traffic and runners.
Parking: There is free parking available near the main pavilion of the park. For safety reasons fans, besides those with handicap stickers, will not be allowed to park immediately adjacent to the starting area. Those spaces will be reserved for team vans/busses.
Packet Pick-Up: Coaches can pick up race packets beginning at 9:00 am at the South Pavillion.
Practice: The course will partially be available for viewing the day before the meet beginning at 4:00 pm. Since the park is public, not all flags will be hung until the morning of the event.
Protocol: Runners must wear bibs on the front of their uniforms. It must be pinned securely and unaltered in anyway. Failure to follow this protocol could result in disqualification or an error in the scoring. Runners should wear identical uniform tops.
Results: The Albany Running Exchange Event Productions will display race results approximately five minutes after the last competitor has crossed the line. Coaches will receive one hard copy of each race result following the awards ceremony. Complete results will then be emailed to each school’s sports information director and posted on the
Saint Rose website Saturday evening.
2008 Men's Results;
2008 Women's Results
Awards: The top 10 individual finishers in each race will receive a t-shirt. The winning team in each race will receive a plaque. The fastest female will receive the Mary Peck memorial award in memory of a promising young runner whose life was cut short before attending Saint Rose in 2000.
Scoring: Traditional cross country scoring procedures will be in effect as outlined in the NCAA Men’s & Women’s Cross Country rule book. Any runner beyond the seventh finisher for a team will not score. There is no limit to the number of entries per team.
