Last Time Out: The College of Saint Rose upended host Assumption 3-0 in last Sunday's Northeast-10 Conference Championship Final to capture its seventh league title in the past eight years. The Golden Knights displayed their depth with a balanced attack and stingy defense throughout the afternoon. Saint Rose put four players in the scoring column and manufactured a 24-10 shot advantage. Junior midfielder Jennifer Busk finished with a goal and an assist; while senior back Jourdan Thompson and junior midfielder Michaela Phillips also scored for the Golden Knights. Sophomore keeper Ashley Homer recorded four saves for a Saint Rose contingent that shutout each of its three opponents in this year's NE-10 Championship. Thompson, the Tournament Most Valuable Player, put the Golden Knights up 1-0 when she redirected a set piece initiated by Busk with 19:17 gone by. Phillips then made it 2-0 in the opening five minutes of the second half when she corralled a loose ball and deflected in a shot from the right side of the area. Busk then touched home a short corner off the left end line by freshman forward Morgan Burchhardt at the 60:18 mark.

Last Meeting (11/19/10 | NCAA Third Round | West Chester, PA): Saint Rose set the tone early and advanced with a 1-0 victory. Sydney Bond provided the lone goal early in the second half for the Golden Knights who dictated the pace throughout the majority of the match although several Saint Rose scoring opportunities slipped harmlessly away that afforded the Pioneers a chance for an upset until the final buzzer sounded. The Golden Knights nonetheless outshot LIU Post by a 21-5 margin, including a 10-1 differential in on-target threats, and manufactured six corner kicks, while yielding only one. Bond made sure the effort paid dividends when she redirected a diagonal feed from Christina Cuffari at the 57:50 mark.

Friday's First Round: Fifth-seed LIU Post knocked off fourth-seed Assumption 2-0 to advance. The Pioneers got on the board in the 36th minute off a corner kick. The ball was sent into the box, and after a scramble in front, junior back Morgan Miller found the back of the net. In the 50th minute, senior back Lauren Bellone found sophomore forward Julia Backman with a cross that Backman sent home for the 2-0 cushion.

Scouting #6 Saint Rose (18-1-2): The top-seed Golden Knights are 21-10-2 all-time in NCAA Tournament contests. This is the 12th time in 13 years that the Golden Knights will be competing in the field. They have advanced to nine regional championship games and have made five national semifinal appearances (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012) within the past six years. They furthermore captured the 2011 National Championship. Saint Rose has now won 15 games in each of the past nine seasons. The Golden Knights are 16th in the country in scoring offense (2.57) and are sixth in team goals-against-average (0.366). They have shutout 14 of their 21 opponents. Sixteen players have at least one goal including senior forward Carmelina Puopolo who stands second nationally with 18 goals and fourth with 43 points. Eight of her strikes have been game-winners. Burchhardt has eight goals and is tied for the team lead with nine assists, along with Busk. She has 31 points on nine strikes and a team-leading 13 assists. Sophomore keeper Hreffie Agnarsdottir has played all but 77 minutes. She owns a 0.806 GAA.
